Independent Showcase Artists Announced!
The 2017 Independent Showcase winter series organized by the students of the Music Industry Management Association (MIMA) is set to kickoff for the fifth straight year.
Indie Showcase will have three independent artists perform on three separate nights in the Ferris State University’s Business Bulding- room 111. Indie Showcase will be held on the three following Thursdays- February: 2, 9, 23. Each night will begin at 7 p.m. and consist of an hour performance with a Q&A session to follow. All nights will conclude at 9 p.m.
Tickets for Indie Showcase will cost $3 for students and $5 for non-students per night. Three-night packages will cost $7 for students and $12 for non-students. All tickets will be available for purchase at the show.

February 2: The Millenium
February 9: Marina City
February 23: likemelikeyou
The Millenium is a pop rock band from Eau Claire, WI and formed in 2014. The group began playing shows around the UW-Eau Claire College campus and has since grown to a headline-touring band. They released debut EP, It’s so Much Friendlier With Two in 2014 and most recently released single, “Interstates” in 2016. The Millenium’s discography is available on Spotify. Marina City is another alternative/pop rock band, hailing from Chicago and formed in 2012. Producer and lead singer of Goldfinger John Feldmann (produced Blink 182’s California, all but one of The Used albums and has worked with Good Charlotte, All Time Low, Anthony Green, Beartooth, etc.) called the group a mix, “Between Fall Out Boy and Avenged Sevenfold.” Marina’s City’s first major release was their 2012 LP, In the Wake of Dreaming. Their most recent release was a live acoustic album, Lost Doesn’t Mean Alone dropped on September 16, 2016. In 2016, Chicago Nightlife Awards named Marina City the “2016 Band Of The Year”. The last Indie Showcase performer will be newly established Grand Rapids alternative electronic dance pop trio- likemelikeyou. likemelikeyou formed in the summer of 2016 and are managed by James Jeda of Rocktagon Music Network. STRFKR, Twenty One Pilots, Two Door Cinema Club, Maroon 5, The Weekend and The 1975 are cited as major influences for the group. likemelikeyou's music has yet to be released.
